Colorado Springs, Colorado - After a standout year on the mat and in the classroom, New Mexico Highlands junior
Ivan Smith has been named the RMAC Academic Wrestler of the Year.
Smith capped a stellar season by earning All-American honors at the NCAA Division II Championships with a seventh-place finish at 165 pounds. He compiled a 32-6 overall record and closed the regular season on an eight-dual winning streak, including three consecutive major decisions. Of his 32 victories, 22 came with bonus points.
In the classroom, the Farmington, New Mexico, native boasts a 3.99 GPA while majoring in social work.
Smith joins former Cowboy great Allen Michel as a recipient of the Academic Wrestler of the Year award. Michel earned the honor in 2022.

Reed McCarty were named to the RMAC Wrestling Academic Honor Roll.
