Baseball heads to Texas for Doubleheader against Wayland Baptist

 
Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team travels to Plainview, TX for a double header that is scheduled to start at 2 pm CT (1 PM and 4 PM MT) on Tuesday February 25^th.
 
The double header was originally scheduled for February 11^th, but was moved due to weather conditions.
 
ABOUT WAYLAND BAPTIST: The Pioneers have started the season out hot with a 15-5 overall record and are hitting .354 on the season with 181 RBI's. For the Pioneers, you can expect to see Luis Vargas who is hitting .500 on the season with 12 homeruns, 35 RBI, and a slugging percentage of 1.177%. You can also look for Brendon Foust (.453 avg, 10 HR, 32 RBI), Austin Moya (.414 avg, 16 RBI), and Jake Green (.357 avg, 10 hits, 3 HR, 12 RBI).
 
On the mound, you can look for Tanner Solomon who is 4-1 with a 2.02 ERA on the season. LJ Diaz is another player to watch on the mound as he is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.88 while Jose Suero is 2-1 with an ERA of 5.4 in 25 innings pitched this season.
 
ABOUT NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS: The Cowboys have had a slow start to their season after losing all 4 games to Fort Hays State two weekends ago. Still, the Cowboys will look to bounce back against the Pioneers. Estevan De La O leads the Cowboys in hitting percentage this year at .400 while bringing in 3 runs. Clayton Hale has also had a heavy bat this season with a .357 avg, 3 HR, 7 RBI, and a slugging percentage of 1.071%. You can also look for Ashton Roy (.33 avg, 4 hits,), Nathan Vetter (.300 avg, 3hits), and Brandon Baier (.286, 2 hits).
 
On the mound, you can expect Mason Myhre (0-1, 6.00 ERA, 7 strikeouts), Cameron Polich (0-0, 7.71 ERA, 2 strikeouts), JT Mossberg (0-1, 2 strikeouts), and Robbie Alarcon (0-0, 5 strikeouts).
