LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's track and field team opens the 2022 part of its schedule as it competes at the University of New Mexico Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque.
The Cowgirls haven't competed since Dec. 11 at the Western Colorado Open in Gunnison. Katy Scott broke the school record in the weight throw at 17.17 meters while
Faith Lovato broke the mile run record with a converted time of 5:14.
2019 national triple jump champion and five-time All-American
Annie Topal also started the season well with a first place in the long jump with an indoor career best of 5.71 meters.
