Enoe Jumps to the Top

NMHU freshman Ahshareah Enoe had a great day in her Cowgirl debut. 

Enoe not only won her event at the Western State Open  with a jump over 6-feet (1.85m) but the high jumper  from Grenada...

1. Set a new HU school record.

2. Broke the Western State Indoor facility record.

3. Moved to #1 on the NCAA national qualifying list by 2-inches over the second best mark in the country.

"Ahshareah is a special talent," said HU head coach Bob DeVries, "She's worked very diligently with coach (Damia) Russell on improving her run-up and it showed on Saturday."

Not to be outdone -- by much -- Cowgirl Patreece Clarke dominated 60-meter hurdles and moved to #2 in the nation with her 8.47 clocking. Clarke also won the 60- meter dash (7.71) on Saturday.

The Cowgirls would have to wait for the final track event to pick up a fourth win of the day. The foursome of Nadine Rose, Beatrice Armijo, Enoe and Lucia Harrison  combined to win the 4x400 relay in 3:56.6, a time that leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and ranks #13 in the country.

" We emphasize the 4x4," noted DeVries, "Our athletes take pride in being part of the relay.
