Box Score 2 ALVA, Okla. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team lost to Oklahoma Baptist 12-4 and Washburn 14-4 Saturday in Oklahoma.
The Cowboys (0-5) led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth against OBU before the Bison scored two in the fifth to tie it, three in the sixth to take the lead and five in the eighth to pull away.
Lubby Marujo led NMHU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a triple.
Jadrian Martinez got the start, going 5.2 innings and giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits with seven strikeouts.Â
Against Washburn, a six-run fourth for Washburn helped it take an 8-1 lead as it pulled away.
The Cowboys hit three homers, getting one each from
Joe Kuhn,
Aidan McNichol and
Gavin Gifford.
Angel Castillo picked up the loss, going six innings and giving up eight runs on 13 hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
NMHU completes action in Oklahoma against Northwestern Oklahoma State 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
