NMHU's Topal caps collegiate career with sixth All-American honor at NCAA Championships

 
ALLENDALE, Michigan --- The New Mexico Highlands wrapped up competition at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday with Annie Topal leading the Cowgirls with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump while Kaitlyn Scott and Kaitlyn Holl competed in their respective events Thursday.

Topal, the 2019 national champion and seven-time RMAC triple jump champion who has dealt with injury issues through the year, concluded her collegiate career by picking up five points for the Cowgirls with her fourth-place finish. Topal on her third jump earned her sixth All-American honor with a distance of 12.67 meters. She finished 0.20 meters from finishing in the top three while D'Andra Morris of the University of Mary won the title with a distance of 13.05 meters.

Scott competed Thursday in the hammer throw and took 19th at the event and didn't make the finals (top nine make the finals) as she finished with a mark of 50.90 meters (167-0).

Holl also competed Thursday in the long jump, finishing 20th with a distance of 5.25 meters (17-2.75).
