USTFCCCA ANNOUNCES ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS

New Orleans, LA  07/14/23

Four stand-out New Mexico Highlands University track and field athletes have been named Academic All-American for the spring semester. Katy Scott, Ashareah Enoe, Beatrice Armijo and Lucia Harrison have been honored by the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association for their performance in both the classroom and competition. The 2023 awards combine the indoor and outdoor seasons into one award for the spring. To be eligible athletes must have recorded an NCAA qualifying mark in an individual or relay event and have a GPA above 3.25.

Scott, a graduate student in Human Performance from Springer, NM, earned her accolade with an NCAA qualifying mark in the hammer throw. Scott ranked among the top 30 throwers in the country for the '23 outdoor season. Both Armijo, a graduate student from Las Vegas, NM (West Las Vegas HS) and Harrison, a junior from Albuquerque, NM (Sandia HS) earned the honor as members of the HU 4 x 400 team that raced to an NCAA qualifying mark at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.  Enoe, a freshman from Grenada,  was named Academic All American based on her indoor season where she placed fifth in the HJ at the NCAA national championships in Virginia Beach, VA.

Congratulations Cowgirls !
