Las Vegas, New Mexico - Hot shooting Regis handed NMHU a 96-85 defeat to open conference play on Thursday night at the Wilson Complex. The loss drops the Cowboys to 6-2 overall.
The two teams played back and forth early in the game until Regis took the lead for good 20-18 at the 11:17 mark of the first half. The Cowboys continued to battle and cut the Regis lead to six with nine minutes to go in the game, but that's as close as they would get.
Regis out shot the Cowboys 61.4% to 43.8% from the floor and held a 34-25 rebounding edge.
Kenard Richardson led NMHU with 21 points.
Kyrie Thomas scored 17 while
Daniel Rosenber added 12.
Ezzy Dawson has a team high nine rebounds for the Cowboys.
