Box Score 2 Amarillo, Texas - The Cowboys won both ends of Saturday's doubleheader en route to a series sweep over Panhandle State winning the opener 22-7 and game two 4-3.
In Saturday's first game the Cowboy's scored a run in every inning except the first as they exploded for 22 runs on 22 hits.
Taigo Sato went five for five and had three RBI and
Richie Amavizca was three for three with four RBI.
Jace Dominic and
Tanner Hedrick each went deep, recording their first home runs of the season.
Andrew Baltazar got the win for the Cowboys.
In the day's second game the Cowboys trailed early as Panhandle State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. The Cowboys responded with two runs in the top of the fourth as
Tucker Simpson led off with a homer to left field.
Braylen Elzy would score later in the inning on a single by
Tanner Hedrick. The Cowboys added a run in the fifth to make it 4-1. The Aggies would threaten in the seventh but
Andrew Rodriguez pitched out of a jam to earn the complete game win.
The Cowboys return to action on Friday, March 8th, when they travel to Portales to start a two game series with Eastern New Mexico. First pitch is at 5:00 pm.
