Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands qualified a pair of athletes to participate in the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships which are scheduled for March 8th and 9th in Pittsburg, Kansas.
On the heels of winning the RMAC title last weekend, sophomore
Patreece Clarke will compete in the 60m hurdles as she qualified with an 8.54 mark which was recorded at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic earlier this month. Clarke earned All-American honors for her performance in the event at last year's championships.
Freshman
Ashley Barrett, winner of last weekend's 60m and 200m in Spearfish, will head to nationals to compete in the 60m dash. She qualified with a 7.40 which earned her the conference title last weekend. Barrett missed qualifying in the 200m by .05 seconds.
The NMHU 4x400 team missed qualifying by less than half a second.
"Both Ashley and Patreece have an excellent chance to be in the finals at the national meet," said head coach
Bob DeVries. "That's always the goal - advance and be fast in the final."
