Albuquerque, New Mexico - The NMHU track and field team spent the weekend competing at the UNM Collegiate Classic at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Sophomore
Patreece Clarke posted a season's best 8.50 in the 60 meter hurdles competing in a field stacked with Division I competitors. Her time this weekend moves her sixth on the NCAA Division II national list.
"Patreece is working her way back to All American form. We still have a month to go until the national championships," noted assistant coach Damia Russell.
Also posting a big weekend was the 4x400 relay team making a move into the national top 10. The foursome of
Ashley Barrett,
Kacian Powell,
Cemore Donald and
Lucia Harrison combined to clock 3:47.20, currently the #9 team on the D2 list. The mark is second all-time on the NMHU indoor record list.
"I love the 4x400 and this group has a chance to be very special in the history of our program," said head coach
Bob DeVries after the team's performance.
Harrison posted a career best (58.31) in the open 400 meters to move into eighth on NMHU's all-time indoor list.
Freshman
Emma Hurren set her collegiate best for the second consecutive week with a 2:32.3 in the 800 meters.
Junior
Josey French chopped over 40 seconds off her season opening 3k time from last week with an altitude adjusted 11:44.
Chisom Obioha came up just 3 centimeters short of an NCAA qualifying mark in the long jump. Her 5.65m leap (18' 6 1/2") also moved her into the top 5 on the RMAC performance list.
The team returns to Albuquerque next weekend to compete in UNM"s Don Kirby Invitational.
