Lubbock, Texas - The New Mexico Highlands track and field team was in Texas for the Masked Rider Open at Texas Tech University over the weekend.
Day One Recap
Day one at the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open was all about the throws and Cowgirls Katy Scott, Nina Hol and
Lucia Harrison came up big. All three NMHU athletes made the finals against fields of DI, DII and top JUCO throwers.
Scott is second on the RMAC performance list with a season-best 51.72m (169' 8") to place second in the hammer throw, just eight inches behind junior college national champion Tania Da Silva of New Mexico Junior College. Nina Hol qualified for the final with a throw of 45.81m (150'-3") good for seventh place.
Harrison improved her season-best in the javelin to 36.46m (150'-3") to qualify for the final and take ninth. Harrison's toss is less than a foot from her lifetime best and moves her into eighth place on the RMAC performance list.

In the discus
Kaitlyn Scott threw 37.68m (123' 07") while Nina Hol 34.33m (112' 07").
Emma Hurren posted a 2:30.74 in the 800m run while
Gracey Lovato made her debut and went 5:15.63 in the 1500m run.
In the men's 5000m Andrew Amor posted the best time of the day at 14:40.86 beating the next finisher by nearly five seconds. Edgar Hernandez finished in 16:36.75.
NMHU will be in Pueblo for the Chuck Haering Open Invitational this coming Friday and Saturday.
