Grand Junction, Colorado - The Cowgirls had a huge day on the track Sunday that propelled them to a sixth place finish at the 2024 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. NMHU finished the weekend with 83, the most by a Cowgirl team since the 2019 squad captured the conference championship.
Leading the way from NMHU was
Ashley Barrett who earned RMAC Athlete of the Meet for her performance this weekend. Barrett won the 100m Dash, 200m Dash, and was part of NMHU's winning 4x100 team and 4x400 team that placed second.
Patreece Clarke had a huge weekend in Grand Junction as well, starting off with a track record 13.60 performance in the 100m Hurdles. She placed fifth in the 100m dash and was also part of the 4x100 team.
Cemore Donald ran a season's best 54.68 to finish second in the 400m Dash and ran the 4x400 relay that finished second.
Nadine Rose finished fourth in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.81 and ran the 4x400 relay.
The 4x100 team of
Onanda Lowe, Clarke,
Kacian Powell, and Barrett ran a track record 45.24. That time is the fastest of the season in the RMAC and is the seventh fastest time in NCAA II in 2024.
Finally, the 4x400 team of Rose, Barrett, Donald, and
Lucia Harrison ran a 3:45.14 to finish second. The 4x400 time moved up two spots among the fastest time in Division II this season.
The Cowgirls now set their sights on the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships to be held on May 23-25 in Emporia, Kansas.
