Record Setting Day For NMHU On Opening Day Of NCAA Championships

Pueblo, Colorado - The New Mexico Highlands 4x100 team opened the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships with a statement on Thursday evening. The Cowgirls ran a time of 43.98 to set a new NCAA Division II record.

Rujeko Munetsi, Ashley Barrett, Kacian Powell, and Patreece Clarke bested the second fastest time in the field by nearly three tenths of a second to advance to Saturday's championship.

Sophomore Ashley Barrett returned to the track two hours later for the preliminaries in the 100m Dash. She won her heat in a time of 11.38 to advance to Saturday's finals.

Looking ahead to Friday's action for the Cowgirls, Patreece Clarke takes the track in the 100m Hurdles. She earned All-American honors a year ago at the Championships in Kansas.
