Canyon, Texas - The Cowgirls wrapped up action at West Texas A&M and, as is becoming habit, posted strong results this weekend.
The 4x100 team of
Patreece Clarke,
Onanda Lowe,
Kacian Powell, and
Olivia Moore posted a 47.13, just half a second off an NCAA qualifying mark.
"We had very crisp passes all the way around.
Olivia Moore had to battle a tough wind straight into her face on the anchor leg. We can go much faster," said Head Coach
Bob DeVries.
In the 100m Hurdles
Patreece Clarke ran a blistering 13.69 and moved into second place on the national performance list with her win in a race that included RMAC rival Missy Moreni.
"Another match-up between All-Americans and Patreece looked sharp in winning her outdoor season opener," commented DeVries.
In the 100m Dash,
Onanda Lowe raced to a season's best 12.33. "Onanda had a really good meet," said DeVries. "A new season best in the 100 and a very good leg on our 4x100.
In the 200m Dash
Olivia Moore (25.67) and Rojrika Cambell (26.00) raced to career best times.
On Moore's weekend DeVries said, "Olivia continues to impress with her return to competition. She lowered her personal best by nearly a full second."
For the second week the 400m saw another season best as
Selena Fresquez posted a 1:02.85.
"Selena was probably going under a minute, but the wind was over 20 mph into her face down the last 100," said DeVries.
Finally, on the cancelation of the 4x400 DeVries said, "we had our best group ready to race and nobody else showed up. All the other teams scratched. We'll take another shot at it next week in Colorado."
The Cowgirls are at Colorado Mesa next Saturday and Sunday.
