Colorado Springs, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands freshman pitcher
Andrew Rodriguez was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Pitcher of the Week today.
Rodriguez delivered seven innings of shutout baseball in Saturday's 11-0 win against Colorado Christian at Brandt Baseball Field. He scattered five Cougar hits while striking out six batters and allowing just one walk en route to his second win of the season.
Hunter VanCurrler pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings to preserve the victory. Saturday's shutout was the first by NMHU since Kyle Bledsoe blanked Fort Hays State on February 8, 2019.
"This has been a year of a lot of growth for Andrew and we are proud and excited to see it pay off with this award," said head coach
Harry Estep.
Today's announcement marks the second consecutive Pitcher of the Week honors for New Mexico Highlands as senior
Jadrian Martinez was recognized by the conference last week.
