Cowgirls In South Dakota For A Pair Of RMAC Matches

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls, 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the RMAC, are in South Dakota for conference matches with South Dakota Mines on Friday and Black Hills State on Saturday.

NMHU HEAD COACH: Meg Grose is in her second season at New Mexico HIghlands. She earned her first win as the head coach of the Cowgirls over Sul Ross State on September 13th and her first conference win against Adams State on September 20th, 2024. She was previously the head coach at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cowgirls dropped a 3-1 non-conference decision at Eastern New Mexico on Monday evening. Ariana Jamerson led the Cowgirls with 17 kills, marking her fifth consecutive match - and eighth overall this season - with double-digit kills.

"Hats off to Eastern New Mexico tonight, we were not ready to play and they took full advantage of it," said Cowgirls' head coach Meg Grose after Monday's match. "We need to get back to basics and prepare for a tough trip to South Dakota this weekend."

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: South Dakota Mines is 4-12 overall and 2-4 in conference play with the RMAC wins coming over Western Colorado and Fort Lewis. The Hardrockers have won three matches in a row over the Cowgirls and lead the all-time series 6-4. Lauren Prochazka is in her eighth season as the head coach at South Dakota Mines.

Black Hills State enters play this weekend at 5-11 overall and 1-5 in the RMAC entering play this weekend. The Yellowjackets and the Cowgirls split their two matches last season and Black Hills State leads the all-time series 8-5. Grayson DuBose is in his first season as head coach at Black Hills State.

LETS GO CAMPING: NMHU Volleyball will host a FREE Skills Clinic after next Saturday's match in the Wilson Complex with Fort Lewis. The camp is available for all kids up to the 8th grade.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: As a team, the Cowgirls are third in the RMAC with 16.78 digs per set and they are third in the conference with 1.75 aces per set.

Becca Wiersema is seventh in the RMAC with 4.05 digs per set.

Meg Pfannerstill and Abby Carlsen are tied for 10th in the RMAC at 0.35 service aces per set.

The Cowgirls 20 service aces against Northwestern Oklahoma State is the most by an RMAC team this season.
