Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls close out the 2025 regular season with matches at UCCS on Friday evening and MSU-Denver on Saturday afternoon.
NMHU is 12-14 overall and 4-8 in RMAC matches entering play on Friday.
NMHU HEAD COACH:
Meg Grose is in her second season at New Mexico HIghlands. She earned her first win as the head coach of the Cowgirls over Sul Ross State on September 13th and her first conference win against Adams State on September 20th, 2024. She was previously the head coach at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
LAST TIME OUT: The Cowgirls dropped a 3-0 decision at Colorado Christian on Tuesday evening.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: UCCS, among teams receiving votes in this week's AVCA Division II poll, is 22-2 overall and 11-1 in the RMAC. Tara Hittle is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Mountain Lions. Friday's match is the only meeting of 2025 between the two teams and the UCCS holds a 9-1 edge in the last ten matches in the series.
MSU-Denver is 21-3 overall and tied atop the RMAC standings with UCCS at 11-1. The Roadrunners are ranked 10th in this week's AVCA NCAA Division II Top 25. Head Coach Jenny Glenn is in her 10th season leading the Roadrunners. The Roadrunners hold a commanding 10-0 lead in the last ten matches played in the series.
CAREER MILESTONE: Senior
Abby Carlsen eclipsed the 1,000 career assist mark earlier this month at Chadron State.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: As a team, the Cowgirls lead the RMAC at 1.88 service aces per set and are sixth in the conference at 16.17/digs per set.
Naya Dornic is tenth in the RMAC with 0.31 service aces per set.
Becca Wiersema is sixth in the RMAC with 3.94 digs per set and eighth with 0.34 service aces per set.
Meg Pfannerstill is fifth in the RMAC with 0.36 service aces per set.
The Cowgirls 20 service aces against Northwestern Oklahoma State is the most by an RMAC team this season.
