Final Home Match Of Season For Cowgirls On Saturday

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls play their final home match of 2025 on Saturday night when they host CSU-Pueblo for a 7:00 pm match. Saturday is Senior Night presented by Quality Care.

NMHU is 12-12 overall and 4-6 in RMAC matches entering play on Saturday evening.

NMHU HEAD COACH: Meg Grose is in her second season at New Mexico HIghlands. She earned her first win as the head coach of the Cowgirls over Sul Ross State on September 13th and her first conference win against Adams State on September 20th, 2024. She was previously the head coach at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cowgirls topped Western New Mexico 3-2 on Tuesday night in front of a raucous crowd in the Wilson Complex. With the win Tuesday, the Cowgirls have won the most matches in a season since the 2013 team.

Junior Jaylee Gonzales (16 kills and 16 digs) recorded the ninth double-double of her NMHU career in the win over the Mustangs.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: CSU-Pueblo brings an overall record of 15-7 and an RMAC mark of 7-3 into Saturday's match in historic Las Vegas. The Thunderwolves beat Colorado Christian and Regis last weekend in RMAC Power Pod play. Jordan Bruere is in her first season leading the volleyball program at CSU-Pueblo.

Saturday is the only meeting of the year between the two teams with the Thunderwolves holding a 7-3 edge in the last ten matches played in the series.

CAREER MILESTONE: Senior Abby Carlsen eclipsed the 1,000 career assist mark in last Saturday's afternoon at Chadron State.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: As a team, the Cowgirls lead the RMAC at 1.96 service aces per set and are third in the conference at 16.31/digs per set.

Becca Wiersema is seventh in the RMAC with 3.99 digs per set and seventh with 0.36 service aces per set.

Meg Pfannerstill is fifth in the RMAC with 0.37 service aces per set.

The Cowgirls 20 service aces against Northwestern Oklahoma State is the most by an RMAC team this season.
