Box Score 2 Hobbs, New Mexico - The Cowboys split a doubleheader at the University of the Southwest on Tuesday afternoon winning the opener 9-0 before dropping the nightcap 6-3. NMHU is now 8-8 overall.
In Tuesday's opener, the Cowboys rode the arm of
Ramon Brion who tossed a complete game to pick up his second win of the season. He struck out four while scattering six hits in seven innings.
Offensively, the Cowboys had ten hits in the game.
NMHU sent ten batters to the plate in the top half of the seventh inning as they plated six runs to put the game out of reach.
Bryant O'Neil continued to produce at the plate as he went three for three with three RBI. O'Neil hit home runs number five and six on the season in the game.
Tuesday's second game was scoreless through three and a half innings until the Mustangs scored a run in their half of the fourth inning. The Cowboys answered right back in the top of the fifth when a

Jimi Welsher from third to tie the game at 1-1.
USW scored six runs in the home half of the sixth inning to jump in front of the Cowboys 6-1. NMHU responded in the top of the seventh when
Gael Bernal hit his second home run of the day to pull within three. The Cowboys were unable to extend the rally giving USW the win.
The Cowboys have 10 days off to prepare for the 2025 RMAC opener on March 7th against Colorado Mesa.
