Grand Junction, Colorado - The Cowgirls dropped a 72-46 decision to nationally ranked Colorado Mesa in the opening round of the RMAC Playoffs on Tuesday night.
Playing in the RMAC postseason for the first time since 2005, the Cowgirls held the early lead over the Mavericks. A layup by
Emma Christiano gave NMHU a 6-5 lead at the 5:29 mark of the first quarter. Top seeded CMU pulled away, however, and led 25-11 at the end of the opening quarter.
The Mavericks extended that lead to 40-22 at the half en route to the 26 point win.

Eva Ongoongotau scored a career high 18 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds to pace the Cowgirls.
Aspen Salazar was in double figures for the ninth consecutive game as she scored 15 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
Essynce Contreraz had a team high three assists.
NMHU shot 33.3% from the floor and 66.7% from the free throw line.
The Mavericks held a 42-29 edge on the boards.
NMHU ends the 2024-25 season at 13-14 overall.
