Cowboys Close Out 2025 Campaign

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys dropped both ends of Saturday's doubleheader to Colorado Christian losing 22-9 and 6-3. NMHU concludes the 2025 campaign at 12-36 overall and 4-28 in the conference.

The Cowboys drew first blood in Saturday's opener when a Forrest Simpson homer to center field scored Gael Bernal giving NMHU a 2-0 lead. The visitors' bats heated up in the third as they pulled away for the win.

In addition to the Simpson homer, Bryant O'Neil and RJ Abernathy recorded extra base hits for the Cowboys in the game.

Saturday's second game saw the Cougars score six runs in the first two and it looked like they might run away with this one as well. Cowboys pitcher Dominick Castillo settled in and did not allow a run the rest of the way as he tossed a complete game in his final game as a Cowboy.

The Cowboys picked up a run in the third inning and two more in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 6-3. That would be as close as they would get, however.

Roman Robles closed out his NMHU career with an inside the park home run as part of the Cowboys sixth inning.

At the conclusion of Saturday's games, the 2025 seniors were recognized on field as part of the Senior Day festivities. Additionally former Cowboy players were recognized, including the 2010 squad that advanced to the NCAA Regionals, and were honored in post game ceremonies.
