Colorado Springs, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands was selected to finish eighth in the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll, released today by the league office.
The Cowboys collected 14 points in the vote after finishing the 2025 season with a 12-36 overall record and a 4-28 mark in RMAC play.
New Mexico Highlands will be led once again in 2026 by head coach
Steve Jones.. One of the most accomplished coaches in program history, Jones was inducted into the NMHU H-Club Hall of Honor in 2019. Under his guidance, the Cowboys qualified for the RMAC Tournament 15 times and advanced to NCAA Division II Regional play on six occasions, including hosting the NCAA Central Regional in 2010. Jones-led teams captured two RMAC regular-season championships and three RMAC Tournament titles, while reaching the conference tournament championship game six times.
New Mexico Highlands opens the 2026 season on January 30, welcoming Southern Nazarene to historic Las Vegas for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM, with game two to follow at 2:00 PM.
