Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys are back at Brandt Field this weekend for Pink Weekend presented by Quality Care against the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines.Â
COACH JONES: Coach
Steve Jones led the Highlands baseball squad for 17 years and was inducted into the H-Club Hall of Honor in 2019. Jones's NMHU teams qualified for the RMAC conference tournament 15 times and qualified for NCAA Division 2 Regionals six times, hosting the NCAA Central Regional in 2010. Jones's NMHU teams won two RMAC conference championships and three RMAC conference tournament championships. His teams reached the finals of the RMAC conference tournament championship game six times. Coach Jones captured his first victory in his return on January 30, 2026, in an 11-10 victory over Southern Nazarene.
Last Season: The Cowboys were 12-36 overall and 4-28 in the RMAC in 2025.Â
RMAC Poll:Â New Mexico Highlands was selected to finish eighth in the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll, released today by the league office. The Cowboys collected 14 points in the vote.
Last Time Out: At Colorado Mesa
Game 1: New Mexico Highlands built an early lead, but ninth-ranked Colorado Mesa rallied late to defeat the Cowboys 10-9 in 10 innings on Friday afternoon at The Diamond in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Game 2: New Mexico Highlands battled early in the opener and briefly tied the game before Colorado Mesa pulled away late for the 7-3 win.

Game 3:Colorado Mesa used a late offensive surge to complete the sweep in the second game.
Game 4: New Mexico Highlands Cowboys fall in the series finale in their final game on the Western Slope of Colorado.

Colorado School of Mines:
The Cowboys will face an Orediggers team that is 2-2 in conference this season and 5-13 overall. Robby Bales is in his eighth season as the head coach in Golden, Colorado. During his tenure, Bales holds an overall record of 159-140, including 103-93 in RMAC play.
