New Orleans, Louisiana - Following a strong weekend at the Jo Meaker Classic hosted by West Texas A&M, the New Mexico Highlands University women's track and field team has moved into the USTFCCCA National Top 25 rankings.
The Cowgirls - now #24 in the nation - solidified their standing on the NCAA Division II leader board with several top-tier performances, highlighted by a big move in the sprint relay.
Relay Joins National Elites
The 4x100m relay team of Amoya Jamieson, Ashley Barrett, Kayci Jo Davis, and Patreece Clarke delivered a standout performance, racing to the #2 spot on the NCAA Division II national list. The mark establishes the quartet as one of the premier relay squads in the country as the outdoor season progresses.
Individual Leaders
In individual sprint and hurdle action:
- Patreece Clarke continues to lead the national list in the 100m hurdles, maintaining her position as the top-ranked athlete in the event.
- Ashley Barrett also climbed the rankings, moving into the top 3 nationally in the 100m.
Multi and Jumps Progress
The Cowgirls also gained ground in the field events and multis:
- Lucia Burba finished the Heptathlon with a score just six points shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
- Rojrika Campbell added to the team's momentum with a strong showing in the Triple Jump, contributing to the Cowgirls' overall national point total.
Looking Ahead
With a bolstered national ranking and several athletes positioned at the top of the Division II leader boards, New Mexico Highlands continues its outdoor campaign at the Greyhound Open this weekend at Eastern New Mexico.
