Cowboys Host Adams State This Weekend

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys open a four game series in historic Las Vegas on Friday at 3:00 against Adams State.

New Mexico Highlands lost four games at CSU-Pueblo last weekend and enter play at 6-32 overall and 1-19 in the RMAC.

COACH JONES FILE: New Mexico Highlands University has named Steve Jones head baseball coach, marking a return to the program. Jones led the Cowboys for 17 seasons and was inducted into the H-Club Hall of Honor in 2019.

During his previous tenure, Jones guided New Mexico Highlands to 15 RMAC Tournament appearances and six NCAA Division II Regional berths, including hosting the NCAA Central Regional in 2010. His teams captured two RMAC regular-season titles and three RMAC Tournament championships, while advancing to the tournament title game six times.

RMAC POLL: The Cowboys were picked to finish eighth in the 2026 RMAC Preseason Baseball Poll, earning 14 votes from the league's nine head coaches. 

Adams State was tabbed for a seventh place finish in the voting by the conference coaches.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: Adams State enters this weekend's series with a 10-28 overall record and a 5-15 mark in RMAC play after having last week off. 

As a team, the Grizzlies are hitting .319 while posting an 11.02 ERA on the mound. Bruce DelTondo is in his sixth season as head coach of the program.
