Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys are at CSU-Pueblo this weekend for a four game series that gets underway at 6:05 pm on Friday.
New Mexico Highlands enters the weekend at 6-28 overall and 1-15 in conference play following last weekend's series with MSU-Denver. Senior
Ramon Brion took the loss in Friday's first game despite pitching a complete game and allowing just two earned runs while striking out seven batters.
COACH JONES FILE: New Mexico Highlands University has named
Steve Jones head baseball coach, marking a return to the program. Jones led the Cowboys for 17 seasons and was inducted into the H-Club Hall of Honor in 2019.
During his previous tenure, Jones guided New Mexico Highlands to 15 RMAC Tournament appearances and six NCAA Division II Regional berths, including hosting the NCAA Central Regional in 2010. His teams captured two RMAC regular-season titles and three RMAC Tournament championships, while advancing to the tournament title game six times.
RMAC POLL: The Cowboys were picked to finish eighth in the 2026 RMAC Preseason Baseball Poll, earning 14 votes from the league's nine head coaches.
CSU Pueblo was tied for second in the poll alongside MSU-Denver.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: CSU Pueblo is 14-19 overall and 6-10 in conference games after losing three of four games last weekend to Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
As a team, CSU-Pueblo is hitting .315 and the pitching staff has an ERA of 7.35. Bobby Applegate is in his fifth season at the helm of CSU-Pueblo program.
