Box Score The NMHU Women's Basketball dropped the final game of their Nebraska road trip, 65-57, to the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney.  The Cowgirls made the first shot of the game, but the Lopers quickly responded and gained control of the lead.  UNK would lead by as much as 6 points, before the Cowgirls were able to make a comeback.  With 6:49 left in the first half of play, the Cowgirls were able to grab a two point lead.  However, the Lopers were able to regain the momentum, and when the buzzer sounded to end the first half, it was UNK who had the three point lead, 29-26.  The Lopers came out of halftime looking to maintain control of the game.  They jumped out to a seven point lead, and the teams went back and forth until the Cowgirls were able to take the lead when China Smith hit a lay-up and Katie Gannon quickly hit a three-pointer, with 13:34 left in the game.  UNK was able to regain the lead and with only 5:04 left on the clock, the Lopers were up by eight points.  When the final buzzer sounded it was the Lopers who would come away with the victory at home by the final score of 65-57.  With the loss the Cowgirls, led by Head Coach Tiffany Darling, fall to a 4-8 record in the RMAC and 8-8 in overall play.

Eboni Jacobs was the leading scorer for the Cowgirls with 14 points.  Jacobs shot a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line and would add three rebounds to the team's effort.

China Smith turned in a great performance by earning the double-double.  Smith scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to capture her double-double.

Always consistent, Alyssa Lopez scored 10 points for the Cowgirls.  Lopez also added two rebounds and an assist to her night's totals.

The Lopers took advantage of their home court to outshoot the Cowgirls in the game.  UNK was 40% from the field and 72% from the charity stripe.  The Cowgirls out-rebounded the Lopers 46-44, but they also gave up four more turnovers in the game.

The Cowgirls will continue conference action again, on 1/21, as they travel to Silver City, N.M., to take on their in-state rivals, the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University.  The Mustangs are currently in last place in the RMAC, with a 0-12 record in conference and 0-15 overall.  The game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off time, with the Cowboys taking to the court shortly after the completion of the women's game.  If you can't make it to Silver City to watch your Cowgirls in action, you can click HERE to watch the game LIVE on the America One network.
