Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls will play their final games against Colorado Christian and UCCS.

COACH FEARING:
Coach Fearing enters her second year as the head coach of the Cowgirls. Last season, Coach reached the RMAC Tournament with a 13-13 record before falling to Colorado Mesa in the first round on the road. It was the first time in 20 years that a Cowgirls basketball team had reached the postseason.

LAST TIME OUT:

1st Half: Black Hills State (BHSU) 31 - NMHU 35

BHSU started the scoring, and the game plan was apparent: work the ball inside to the paint. The Cowgirls' game plan was similar, as they started the game with six points in the paint. The three-point ball was scarce in the first quarter as the two teams were a combined 0-5 from beyond the arc, and the Cowgirls clung to a two-point lead headed into the second quarter.

The Cowgirls' offense got going and began running the floor, forcing an early BHSU timeout. Melika Samia had the hot hand with a career high 14 in the first quarter. Then, following a four-point play by Brynn Hargrove, Aspen Salazar gets a steal and throws up a heave, and it drops the momentum for the Cowgirls heading into the break.

2nd Half: BHSU  70 - NMHU 81
The Yellow Jackets came out in the second half with fast-break points. Later in the third, the Cowgirls found life, and the Wilson Center crowd came to life. As the third quarter wound down, Black Hills State hit three long-range threes, and momentum was with the Yellow Jackets.

However, the fourth would be all Cowgirls as the defense went into lockdown mode, and they would win the final home game of the season.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION:

Colorado Christian:

The Cowgirls will travel to Lakewood, Colorado, to face the Cougars of Colorado Christian to begin the weekend. Colorado Christian comes into the weekend with a 4-14 conference record and a 7-9 overall record. This will be the first time these two teams have squared off this season. Head Coach Carissa Ratliff took over as the Interim Head Coach of Women's Basketball for the Cougars in October of the 2024–25 season. Prior to this season, she served as an assistant coach for the Cougars from 2018–2022.

UCCS:
UCCS will be the first team the Cowgirls will face in the final game of the regular season. The reigning RMAC Tournament Champions currently have a 17-9 overall record and are 13-5 in RMAC play. UCCS has faced five ranked teams this season, including a win over then-third-ranked Lubbock Christian. Misty Wilson is entering her third season with the program in 2025-26. In her second year at UCCS, Wilson led the Mountain Lions to the 2025 RMAC Tournament Championship title and a berth to the NCAA Tournament, marking the first NCAA postseason appearance since 2016-17.
