Cowboys Cage Tigers 100-78

Box Score The NMHU Cowboys defeated the Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan College on 11/17 in their first game of the Alamosa Tourism & Bankers Classic hosted by Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo. The Cowboys and the Tigers battled back and forth for the first ten minutes of play with the Pokes leading 25-22 with 10:51 on the clock. NMHU would then take control extending their lead to 48-42 at the halftime break. The second half of play would be a totally different story from the first half as the Cowboys poured it on going on an 8-0 run to start the second half. The Pokes would lead by as much as 27 points en route to their first win of the 2012-13 season. With the win, the Cowboys are now 1-1 on the season.

Stuart Sullivan led the way for NMHU offensively with a game high 20 points. Sullivan added in two rebounds, three assists and two steals to his night's totals.

Lavell McDade finished second on the Cowboys in scoring with a 16 point performance. McDade also had four rebounds, three assists and four steals to his credit against IWC.

Roland Fitch rounds out the top three Cowboys with 12 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in 23 minutes played. Ray Riley pitched in with a game high nine rebounds for the Pokes against the Tigers.

The Cowboys will hit the court again on 11/18 as they take on the Eagles of Northern New Mexico College at 2:00 p.m. in Alamosa, Colo.
