Douglas, Ariz. – The NMHU Rodeo team had another great weekend at the Cochise College Rodeo, Sept. 27-28, in Douglas, Ariz. Both the Cowgirl and Cowboy teams notched Reserve Champion team finishes over the weekend, with individual competitors in both the Men's and Women's All-Around category. Jordan Taton, are sitting in second place in the Grand Canyon Region standings, with the Cowgirls just 145 points shy of first place Central Arizona College.

Tate Thybo turned in another quality performance, with his second top place finish in Bull Riding. Thybo has now finished first in Bull Riding in both rodeos in which the team has competed. The sophomore, from Belle Fourche, S.D., is currently the top Bull Rider in the Grand Canyon Region with 270 points (160 point lead).
2012-13 Grand Canyon Region All-Around Cowboy
Preston McCullar won the Steer Wrestling event at the Cochise Rodeo over the weekend. McCullar is tied for second place in the Grand Canyon Region Steer Wrestling standings with 180 points.
Miles McCullar rounds out the Cowboys' top performers at the Cochise College Rodeo. The freshman finished third in the Men's All-Around standings, with a fourth place finish in Steer Wrestling and a sixth place finish in the Tie-down Roping event.
Cowgirls
Kindee Wilson finished tied for second in the Women's All-Around standings in Douglas, Ariz. She place third in Goat Tying and fourth in Breakaway Roping. Wilson is currently leading the Grand Canyon Region standings in both events. She has a 60 point lead in the Breakaway Roping regionally.
KL Spratt came in fifth for the Women's All-Around standings at the Cochise rodeo. She was second overall in Barrel Racing and eighth in Breakaway Roping. Spratt is leading the Grand Canyon Region standings in Barrel Racing with 225 points.
Chelsea DeMott finished third overall in the Breakaway Roping event in Douglas, Ariz. DeMott is tied for fifth overall in the Breakaway Roping standing for the Grand Canyon Region.
The Cowgirls and Cowboys are off to a great start in the 2013-14 season with several athletes topping the regional standings. They will take this weekend (Oct. 4-6) off before heading back out on the road for their final rodeo of 2013. The team will participate in the Mesalands Community College rodeo, Oct. 11-12, in Tucumcari, N.M.
