CASPER, Wyo. – The New Mexico Highland rodeo team completed the 2013-2014 season at nationals June 21. The women's team finished 14th in the nation with 130 points while the men's team finished 48th with 45 points.
The best finish of the championships came from senior
Kindee Wilson, who finished seventh in goat tying with a 28 average.
On the men's side, off to a tough start in the saddle bronc riding event in his first attempt, junior
Brady Dinwoodie rallied with a solid third attempt. He finished tied for fourth in that try with 75.5 points and finished ninth in the event overall with a 271 average.
In the bareback riding event, freshman
Hunter Brasfield took 15th with a 212 average while sophomore
Tate Thybo finished 33rd with 66.5 points. However, Thybo rebounded and took 16th in bull riding with a 66.5 average.
In breakaway roping, senior
Chelsea DeMott took 22nd and Wilson took 41st. DeMott finished with a 6.9 average while Wilson finished with 4.9.
