Tucumcari, N.M. – The NMHU Cowboy Rodeo team took second place at the Mesalands Community College rodeo, Oct. 11-12, falling a mere 15 points short of the NMSU Men's team.  The Cowgirls finished in fourth place at Mesalands over the weekend.  The Cowboys and Cowgirls are done with their fall rodeo season and will pick up the action in February.

The Cowboys
Brady Dinwoodie led the way for the Cowboys with his first place finish in the Saddle Bronc Riding over the weekend.  Chris Johnson finished third overall in Saddle Bronc Riding.

The Cowboys' team effort was also aided by Hunter Brasfield and Tate Thybo who finished second and third respectively in the Bareback Riding competition.
Cowboy brothers Preston McCullar and Miles McCullar round out NMHU's top performers with a fourth and fifth place finish in Steer Wrestling.

The Cowboy Rodeo team is ranked second in the Grand Canyon regional standings after the completion of the fall season.
Tate Thybo has been the best Cowboy this fall for NMHU.  Thybo is the lone regional leader for the Men's All-Around competition, with 470 total points.  He is top Bull Rider in the region with 270 points and ranks fourth regionally in Bareback riding with 200 points.

Brady Dinwoodie is leading the regional standings in Saddle Bronc Riding, with 415 points.  Dinwoodie has a 90 point lead on his closest competitor.  Other notable Cowboys in the regional standings are Hunter Brasfield (second place, Bareback Riding) and Preston McCullar (third place, Steer Wrestling).

The Cowgirls
Kindee Wilson continues to lead the way for the Cowgirls in the fall 2013 season.  Wilson placed third overall in Breakaway Roping.  KL Spratt finished fourth in Barrel Racing over the weekend at the Mesalands CC rodeo.

The Cowgirls finish off the fall season ranked third overall in the Grand Canyon Region standings.

Cowgirl Kindee Wilson is tops in the regional Women's All-Around standings with 540 points.  Wilson's 290 points in the Breakaway Roping standings give her a 155 points lead in the regional standing for that event.  Wilson is also ranked fourth overall in the regional Goat Tying standings with 250 points.

KL Spratt's 315 points in Barrel Racing are good enough for second place in the region.  Spratt is just five points shy of the top spot as a Barrel Racer.
