Box Score 2 Golden, Colo. - The Cowgirls wrapped up their weekend long series against the NCAA DII ninth ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers, on Sunday Apr.14. In the second and final doubleheader of the weekend the Cowgirls would drop two. The first game was 2-1 and the second game was 1-0. Under Head Coach Shellie Broyles the Cowgirls are now 15-30-1 in overall play and 7-23-1 in the RMAC.

The Cowgirls went down early when the Orediggers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning (1-0)
The Cowgirls tightened up the defense by only allowing two hits and no scores until the bottom of the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Orediggers extended their lead with a one-run double. At the beginning of the fifth inning the score was 2-0, Orediggers.
The Orediggers' were working on a no-hitter going into the sixth inning.
Erica Wieck snapped the Cowgirls hitting drought by hitting a double into center field. With Wieck on second base,
Devon Paiz stepped into the batters' box. On a 1-2 pitching count, Paiz was able to hit a single to right field for a one run score. At the end of the sixth inning the score was 2-1.
In the final inning the Cowgirls would look to rally for the tie or the win. Unfortunately, the Cowgirls were kept from anymore hits.
The final score was 2-1 in favor of the Orediggers.

In the first inning, each team prevented the other from gaining a hit or a run.
The two teams battled for the first score but both pitchers made it very difficult. Before the sixth inning, the two pitchers allowed a combined seven hits for no scores.
The games' first score would not come until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Orediggers brought home a runner through a double to left field (1-0).
In the seventh inning the Cowgirls struggled to get a hit and were unable to score a tying run. The final score was 1-0 in favor of the Orediggers.
The Cowgirls will host Metropolitan State University of Denver next weekend, Apr. 20- 21, in their final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference home series of the year. On each day, the two teams will play a doubleheader.
On Saturday the first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 p.m. and the second game will begin at 2:00 p.m.
On Sunday the Cowgirls will be celebrating Senior Day and honoring their six senior student-athletes as they play in their final home games. The first game will start at 11:00 a.m. and the second game is at 1:00 p.m.
