Thunderwolves Sweep Cowgirls

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Pueblo, Colo. – The Cowgirls went up against the Colorado State University of Pueblo Thunderwolves, in their second double header of the weekend on Sunday, Apr. 7. In each game the Thunderwolves took a lead and never let up. The Cowgirls dropped two games against the Thunderwolves. The first game was 6-1 and the second game was 4-0. With the two losses the Cowgirls are currently 15-26-1 in overall play and 7-19-1 in conference.

The Cowgirls took the first at bat in the first inning. In a struggle against the Thunderwolves' pitcher, the Cowgirls were unable to make a hit.

When the Thunderwolves took the plate in the bottom of the first inning they were able to score three runs for the first and only lead of the game (3-0).

The Thunderwolves continued their strong pitching in the second inning by only allowing one hit to the Cowgirls.

By the fourth inning the score was 4-0 in favor of the Thunderwolves. Brittany Potter took the batter's box in the fourth inning and hit a solo home run. The score at this point was 4-1 Thunderwolves.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Thunderwolves ensured their win with two more runs (6-1).

The Cowgirls continued to flounder in the final innings and took the loss 6-1.

In the second match-up of the day, the Cowgirls went scoreless through the first two innings.

The Thunderwolves knocked a one run homerun in the second inning, to go on top of the Cowgirls (1-0).

The Cowgirls came close to a score, but were unable to execute when they left a runner on third base in the third inning.

Both of the teams went scoreless in the third inning. The Thunderwolves entered the bottom of the fourth inning with a 1-0 lead. Their lead grew to 3-0 when they drove in two runs.

In the fifth inning, the Cowgirls had the tying run at the plate in Brittany Potter. The big-time hitter went up against the Thunderwolves pitching but was unable to capitalize for a score.

The Cowgirls failed to score any runs and were shutout with a final score of 4-0.

The Cowgirls will travel to Golden, Colo. to play against the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Saturday, Apr. 13, in another RMAC doubleheader.
