Softball Concludes Season at Colorado Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Cowgirls softball team will conclude the 2014 season this weekend the New Mexico Highlands softball team (11-35, 7-26 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) takes on Colorado Mines (16-25, 12-20 RMAC) Saturday and Sunday (April 26-27) in Golden, Colo.

Scouting New Mexico Highlands
 
The Cowgirls continue to be among national leaders, belting 0.89 home runs per game (34th in the country). Along with that, they are 83rd in the country with a .438 slugging percentage.
 
Meanwhile, sophomore Dekota Monarrez leads the team and is 41st in the nation with 11 home runs per game.
 
Juniors Jacquelyn Wood took over the team lead with a .347 batting average while fellow pitcher classmate Jessica Brink is second on the team with .336 average. Redshirt freshman Annie Reynolds is just behind Brink with a .336 average, leading the team in both hits (51) and doubles (14).
 
Wood also leads the team with a 6-15 record and a 6.03 ERA. Brink is 5-17 with a 6.07 ERA, but leads the team with 16 complete games.
 
 
Scouting Colorado School of Mines
 
Despite sitting 11th in the conference, the Orediggers are sitting third in the conference and 23rd in the nation with a .338 batting average. They are also averaging 5.88 runs per game; however, they are 261st in the country by allowing 7.49 earned runs a game.
 
Cassie Ford leads the team and is 93rd in the nation with a .412 batting average. Four other Colorado Mines' softback players hit above .360, while Courtney Derus leads the team with 10 home runs.
 
Meanwhile, Kristen Prudhomme leads the team with a 14-19 record with a 6.97 ERA and has all 17 Oredigger complete games. Most starts are Prudhomme but Angela Eickelman is 2-6 with an 8.05 ERA in 23 appearances.
