DENVER, Colo. – The New Mexico Highlands softball team (1-6) with begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a trio of softball games Friday (Feb. 20) against Regis (5-6) Friday at noon. This will kickoff a day where four Highlands athletic teams compete in the Mile Hile City, as softball is joined by track and field, women's basketball and men's basketball competing against Colorado School of Mines.
Both teames competed at the Montana State Billings Desert Stinger last weekend, but do not have any common opponents so far this season.
The Cowgirls are curently on a five-game losing streak after losing a pair of heartbreakers to Eastern New Mexico this past Wednesday (Feb. 18), 9-8 (nine innings) and 5-4. The Zias scored their winning runs in their final at-bat. Senior

Destiny Navarro both added a two-run home run, the first of the season for both.

The Rangers look to play their first seven inning game in nearly two weeks. Last week, Regis split a pair of extra-inning games and went 1-2 in run ruled contests.
The Rangers are not an offensive juggernaut as they only hit .253. Three players hit above .300, with Delaney McGinn and Alyssa Finger both hit .33. Nicole Aviles is 5-3 with a 4.05 ERA, allwoing 43 hits and 29 runs (21 earned) in 46.2 innings pitched.
The Cowgirls will open up home play next weekend (Feb. 28-March 1) when they host Fort Lewis and Colorado Christian for an RMAC pod. The Cowgirls will play each team
