Scouting New Mexico Highlands

The Cowgirls, after starting the season 1-13, are 5-3 in their last eight games. Three of those losses were at preseason RMAC-favorite Colorado Mesa, including a tough loss on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.

Sophomore Gabby Hansell leads the team with a .400 average, having played in the last 12 games for Highlands. Earlier this year, she had a nine-game hitting streak. In fact, all 18 of her hits came during that time. Junior Dekota Monarrez, who is only hitting .222 after a tough start to the season, is batting .375 in her last five games with three home runs.

Senior Jessica Brink, who started the season 0-6, is now leading the team with a 4.94 ERA with a 3-1 record in her last four appearances.

Scouting CSU-Pueblo

The Thunderwolves, sitting fifth in the RMAC, are trying to set themselves up to make the 2015 RMAC softball tournament. In action last weekend, they won 3-of-4 in a critical series against UC-Colorado Springs.

Madison Wolfe leads the team with a .365 average, but Alexa Snyderis pacing CSU-Pueblo with 24 hits but only has a .296 average. Wolfe also is the leading starter for the Thunderwolves, holding a 5-4 record in a 3.57 ERA.
