LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The New Mexico Highland Cowgirls softball team (6-16, 1-10 Rocky Mountain) finally, after more than a month on the road, will play their home opener this weekend (March 21-22) in a pair of double headers beginning at noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday against CSU-Pueblo (12-12, 8-4 RMAC).
The Cowgirls will be playing their eighth-straight game on America One this weekend, as Highlands took on Colorado Mesa last weekend in Grand Junction, Colorado. However, it will be the first home games on the network. Each day coasts $8, which will cover both games on the day. To watch, click

here. Just a Quick Reminder With this being the first home softball game, the New Mexico Highlands athletics department would like to remind fans and guests about a few things. First, please do not bring outside food and drink to the softball fields. There will be food and drinks available at the concession stand. Second, PETS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE GATES. Please leave your pets at home. Lastly, please park in the Wilson Complex as the gate by the field house will be locked for both car and foot traffic.
However, all softball and baseball games will have free admittance.
Scouting New Mexico Highlands The Cowgirls, after starting the season 1-13, are 5-3 in their last eight games. Three of those losses were at preseason RMAC-favorite Colorado Mesa, including a tough loss on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.
Sophomore
Gabby Hansell leads the team with a .400 average, having played in the last 12 games for Highlands. Earlier this year, she had a nine-game hitting streak. In fact, all 18 of her hits came during that time. Junior
Dekota Monarrez, who is only hitting .222 after a tough start to the season, is batting .375 in her last five games with three home runs.
Senior
Jessica Brink, who started the season 0-6, is now leading the team with a 4.94 ERA with a 3-1 record in her last four appearances.
Scouting CSU-Pueblo The Thunderwolves, sitting fifth in the RMAC, are trying to set themselves up to make the 2015 RMAC softball tournament. In action last weekend, they won 3-of-4 in a critical series against UC-Colorado Springs.
Madison Wolfe leads the team with a .365 average, but Alexa Snyderis pacing CSU-Pueblo with 24 hits but only has a .296 average. Wolfe also is the leading starter for the Thunderwolves, holding a 5-4 record in a 3.57 ERA.
Next Up The Cowgirls return to the road for an RMAC Pod at Metropolitan State University of Denver next weekend. Highlands will play a pair of games against both the Roadrunners and Black Hills State.
