COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Have not played in two weeks? Congratulations to the New Mexico Highland softball team (1-9, 0-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference), who will be rewarded by playing eight games in four days against UC Colorado Springs (3-8, 1-5 RMAC) and an out-of conference tilt with Oklahoma Panhandle State (6-13).

Live stats against UC Colorado Springs Sunday and Monday (March 8-9) will be here and both days' doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. On Tuesday and Wednesday (March 10-11), the Cowgirls travel to Goodwell, Oklahoma, to take on the Aggies. There will be no live stats. Tuesday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. while Wednesdays games kick off at 10 a.m.

Four different players lead the Cowgirls by hitting better than .333. Senior Jessica Brink leads the team with a .409 average and nine hits in 22 at-bats with a double and a home run. Junior Jacqueyn Solis is batting .379 with 11 hits in 29 at-bats. Junior Destiny Navarro leads the team with 12 hits.

Brink is 0-5 on the year, allowing 28 runs (22 earned) and 38 hits in 24.1 innings of work. Freshman Michelle Brincefield is 1-1 with an 8.04 ERA, allowing 18 runs and 30 hits in 15.2 innings of work.

Scouting UC  Colorado Springs

Despite the big snow storm, the Mountain Lions were able to play last weekend because they were in Grand Junction, Colorado. However, UC Colorado Springs lost all four games to Colorado Mesa. In fact, since beginning the season 2-0, the Mountain Lions are 1-8.

The Cowgirls will need to be weary of Whitney Weber, who is tearing the cover off the ball with a .474 batting average. She leads the team in hits (18) and runs (11). Weber is fast also, as she has eight of the team's nine steals and nine of the team's 13 attempts. Her partner seems to be Kylie Barnars, who adds a .448 average with 13 hits and a team-leading 12 RBI's.

Three different pitchers have gotten the win for UC Colorado Springs this season. Stephanie Chitkowski leads the way with a 1-2 record and 5.34 ERA. She has allowed 19 runs (15 earned) and 19 hits in 19.2 innings pitched.
