Box Score LAS VEGAS. N.V- The Cowgirls started their season in the other Vegas as they opened their season against Concordia (Ore.) and Nebraska-Kearney.

Concordia (Ore.)The Cowgirls came out of the gate hot as Kamai reached on an error, which would come back to haunt the the Cavaliers as the Cowgirls would score two runs on a Solis single up the middle which scored Kamai and Caporal. The Cowgirls gave up the lead-off hitter a single but then the Davis would retire the next three Cavaliers to end the first.

The Cowgirls would give up their first run of the season in the second inning when Owirka singled to center field to score Chang and cut the Cowgirls lead in half, 2-1.

The third inning the Cavaliers would strike again. With a runner on first Copher tripled to that would score the runner from first that would tie the game. The next Cavalier batter, Smith, would then single to left to give them the 3-2 lead.

The Cowgirls would then strike back in 5
th when Solis would knock a shot down the right field that would score Borunda and an error would also allow Weatherbee to score to give the Cowgirls the 4-2 lead.

Concordia would get on the board once again in the bottom of the inning on a single to centerfield to tie the game at 4-4. It wouldn't be til the 7
th that either team would score. With a runner on first and two outs Kamai would fly to center to end the top half of the inning. The Cavaliers would get their lead off hitter on base on a single to right field. A bunt would move the runner over to second. Just two batters later the Cavaliers would score on a walk off single.
Nebraska-KearneyThe Cowgirls faced University of Nebraska at Kearney for the second game of the day.

The third inning proved to be difference in the game as the Lopers scored five runs in the inning.

The Cowgirls started the scoring in the game in the third inning. Freshman
Breanna Cabrera would drive the ball up the middle to score
Ashton Borunda to go up 1-0.

Lopers would counter back in the bottom of the half, and work to get bases loaded with one out. An error, a wild pitch, a double would help the Lopers score five runs.

In the fourth inning, Solis would single up the middle to score Valencia in and get one run back. Lopers would get back the run in the bottom of the fourth.

Brianna Velasquez would come in to relieve and hold the Lopers for two innings.

Being down 6-2 in the top of the 7
th, the Cowgirl would make one last push. Borunda would start it off and single. After two more batters, the Cowgirls would have bases loaded. The Cowgirls would only be able to score two in the inning as they would score on a wild pitch and a sac fly. The girls would fall short as they lost 6-4.

The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. against Northwest Nazarene University. Live stats will be avaiable.
