Softball Travels South To Western New Mexico

SILVER CITY, N.M.- The Cowgirls will travel down to Western New Mexico a match-up against the in-state rival. This will be the last regular season RMAC meeting between the two teams as the Mustangs are headed to the Lone Star Conference next season.
 
Scouting New Mexico Highlands
 
The Cowgirls enter the weekend a 7-14, 4-8 record. The Cowgirls are coming off a 1-3 weekend against Metro St.
 
The Cowgirls are led by Jacquelyn Solis (.365 avg., .476 slugging) and Dekota Monarrez (.370 avg, .630 slugging) at the plate. In just eight games this season Monarrez is tied for third in RBIs with seven. Leading the way in RBIs for the Cowgirls is Marissa Valencia who has 10.
 
The Cowgirls used four different starting pitchers last weekend against Metro St. This will keep the Mustangs guessing as to who they will see and when. Brianna Velasquez leads the team in ERA at 2.97. Michelle Brincefield leads the Cowgirls with wins with four. Madison Davis and Velasquez have both pitched 44 innings this season .
 
Scouting Western New Mexico
 
The Mustangs come into the weekend with an 11-16, 7-5 record. Last weekend they went 1-3 against Chadron State with their only win coming in the first game in eight innings by a score of 2-1.
 
In the circle the Mustangs are led by Domi Shone with a 7-8 record and a 3.52 ERA in 22 appearances with 13 starts.  Mariangela Garcia leads the Mustangs at the dish with a .365 average and 45 total bases. Those 45 bases include six doubles, one triple, and two homeruns. She also leads the team with 14 RBIs.
