Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo.- The Cowgirls traveled to Durango to participate in their firs RMAC pod of the season. The Cowgirls took on Fort Lewis in game one and Colorado Mines in game two.

Game 1 vs Fort LewisThe Cowgirls put pressure on the Skyhawks in the top of the first with the bases loaded with no outs but the Skyhawks were able to strike out the next three batters to get out of the inning. The Skyhawks took advantage of the momentum and scored Melaragno from second on a double by Fundora. The Skyhakws added one more to their run total in the third to give them the 2-0 lead after three innings.

In the top of the fifth the Cowgirl's bats decided to come alive.
Monica Caporal doubled down the left field line. A passed ball allowed her to move over to third. After a
Megan Thursby walk,
Jacquelyn Solis singled to third to score Caporal cut the Skyhawks lead to 2-1.

The Skyhawks didn't like leading by only one run as added some runs of their own in their half of the fifth. With a runner on third Rios singled to left to make it a 3-1 game. Two batters later and runners on second and third Owens dug into the box and singled to add two more RBIs to her total.

With the Cowgirls down to their last six outs, they decided to chip away at the lead. With
Ashton Borunda at first and no outs Victora Gonzales tripled to right field and score Borunda. Gonzales score on a wild pitch and made it a 5-3 game. With two outs and no one one Thursby walked, then advanced on a passes ball. Soils walked as well and just like that the Cowgirls had two runners on base.
Jamie Weatherbee came through once again with clutch hitting and score Thursby from second and made it a 5-4 game going into the bottom of the sixth.

The Skyhawks score a runner in the bottom half of the inning to make it a two run game. The Cowgirls continued to fight in the top of the seventh. It started with a
Dekota Monarrez single to the shortstop. Coach Gadberry put in
Brittany Moya to run for Monarrez. Borunda singled to third and gave the Cowgirls two runners on base. Gonzales and Johnson, the Skyhawk pitcher, batted but Gonzales won the battle with a walk. After a pitching change Valencia dug her feet into the box and singled and added two RBIs to her total and Borunda and Moya scored to tie the game! After a Cowgirl ground out Thursby doubled to left and pushed Valenica across to make it a 7-6 Cowgirl lead with just three outs left in the game.

The Skyhawks didn't want to let this one get away from them. With one out Ownes walked on five pitches. Melaragno singled to left and put Owens, the tying run, just 120 feet away. Fundora singled to left and both Owens and Melaragno scored to give the Skyhawks the 8-7 win over the Cowgirls.
Game 2 vs Colorado MinesThe Cowgirls' late rally against Colorado Mines was not enough as the Cowgirls fell 12-4 in six innings to the Orediggers.

After getting the Cowgirls to go down in order the Orediggers were able to put one run on the board in the bottom half of the first innings on a bases loaded walk. The Orediggers put up their best offensive inning of the day in the bottom of the second. They would score four runs on 2 hits and one error as they lead by a score of 5-0 after just two innings.

In the top of the fifth with the score 6-0 the Cowgirls' bats finally came alive. KK Kamai singled to right to lead things off. After two ground outs Kamai found herself at third and
Jade Callister at the dish. Callister, the freshman, doubled to right to bring in Kamai and make it a 6-1 game. Soils singled up the middle to drive home Callister and made it a 6-2 game after 4.5 innings.

Colordo Mines answered in the bottom of fifth with three runs of their own to make it 9-2. The Cowgirls weren't going down without a battle. In the tip of the sixth and one out Weatherbee singled up the middle to get the rally going. Kamai walked on four straight pitches to bring up Caporal to the dish. Caporal reached on a fielder's choice where the Orediggers were able to get the lead runner, Weatherbee, out at third. Valencia would reach on a fielder's choice as well but a wild throw by the shortstop allowed Kamai to be safe and advance home to cut it to a 9-3 game. Callister singled to right to score Caporal and headed to the bottom of the sixth the Orediggers lead 9-4.

The Orediggers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to run rule the Cowgirls by a score of 12-4.

The Cowgirls will play Fort Lewis and Colorado Mines again tomorrow starting at noon against Colorado Mines and 2 p.m. against host Fort Lewis. Live stats and video will be provided by Fort Lewis.Â
