Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowgirls took on the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in a midweek showdown in the original Las Vegas. The Cowgirls were able to sweep the 'Hounds 8-2 and 5-1.
Game 1The Cowgirls were able to score three runs in the top of the third before a Greyhound errors allowed two more runs as the Cowgirls took game one by a score of 8-2.
Despite the dropping the game the 'Hounds were on the board first in the top of the third on a RBI single by Green to right that scored Sirag.

Jamie Weatherbee at first
Victoria Gonzales doubled down the left field line and Weatherbee came all the way around to score. After a walk and two outs
Marissa Valencia doubled to center and
Jacquelyn Solis and Gonzales scored.
Ka'iulani Kamai hit a hard ball to the third baseman but the ball went through her legs and
Alysia Cavone and Valencia scored to give the Cowgirls the 5-1 lead after three innings.

The 'Hounds added one more in the top of the sixth to make it a 5-2 game headed to the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom half of the inning with runners on first and second
Breanna Cabrera doubled to right center that scored two. Two batters later
Ashton Borunda doubled down the left field line to score Cabrera. The 'Hounds would send five hitters to the plate but were not able to push any runs across as the Cowgirls took the first game 8-2.

Game 2The Cowgirls continued swinging the bat well as they took the second game as well 5-1.

Just like the first game the 'Hounds were on the board first as in the second inning Velasquez singled to center that scored the only 'Hound run of the game.

The Cowgirls answered in the bottom of the second with a
Monica Caporal triple down the left field line with Valencia on first to tie the game. In the bottom of the fourth with runners on the corners Weatherbee singled to left that scored Valencia. At the end of the fourth inning the Cowgirls had a 2-1 lead.

The sixth inning was the biggest inning of the game for the Cowgirls. With Caporal at first and Valencia at third Weatherbee hit a line drive that bounced out of the fielder's glove and allowed Weatherbee to reach third while scoring two runs.
Brittany Moya followed with a single to score Weatherbee and give the Cowgirls the final score of 5-1.

The Cowgirls will return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader against Black Hills St. Live stats and video will be available.Â
