Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowgirls looked to even the series with the Roadrunners this afternoon as the two teams played two.

Game 1It took extra innings once again but the Cowgirls fell by a score of 5-3 to the Roadrunners.

The game didn't see much action til the top of the fourth. The Roadrunners' Terry reached on a Cowgirl error to lead off the inning. Smith laid down a great bunt and beat the throw and moved Terry over to second. A fielder's choice by the next batter gave the Roadrunners runners on the corners. On a wild pitch Terry scored to give the Roadrunners the 1-0 lead.

The Cowgirls answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game. Jacquelyn Soils lead the Cowgirls off with a double to the left field gap that one hopped the fence. A single down the left field line by
Monica Caporal moved Solis over to third. With runners on the corners
Katelyn Bates dug into the box and singled up the middle for her seventh RBI of the season.

The Roadrunners had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the eight. It started with a Lovas walk, then Fields reached on a fielding error by the Cowgirl shortstop. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third before Terry had a ten pitch at-bat walk to load the bases. A walk to Smith and a hit by pitch to Anderson gave the Roadrunners two run to make it a 3-1 game. The Roadrunners scored two more on a throwing error by the Cowgirl shortstop. At the top of the eighth the Roadrunners lead 5-1.

The Cowgirls did not give up.
Marissa Valencia singled to back up the middle to get the Cowgirls started.
Victoria Gonzales followed with a single to third and gave the Cowgirls their first two runners on. After a fly out for the first out,
Monica Caporal singled to third on a bunt and beat the throw to give the Cowgirls bases loaded. Kateyln Bates grounded out to third but Valencia was able to score to make it a 5-2 game.
Dekota Monarrez came through with a single past the third baseman to score Gonzales. The Roadrunners were able to get the last out of the game on a line drive at the pitcher.
Game 2The Cowgirls took game two by a score of 7-4 over the Roadrunners in the series finale.

It was the third inning when the Roadrunners would get on the board and take the 1-0 lead. It came on a single by Kim with a runner on second.

The Cowgirl's came alive in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Solis started it with a walk.
Brittany Moya laid down a bunt that stopped on the chalk giving her a bunt single.
Ashton Borunda fouled out but Monarrez doubled down the left field line to score Solis and Moya. With two outs Gonzales singled through the right side to score Monarrez. Caporal kept the inning going when she reached on an error by the Roadrunner's shortstop and pushed across Gonzales. Heading into the fifth innings the Cowgirls lead by a score of 4-1.

After getting the Roadrunners to go down in order, the Cowgirls kept the rally going. Solis started the Cowgirls off once again with a single to right. The Roadrunners' coach has seen enough from Smith and brought in Christensen. Moya sacrificed herself to move Solis over to second. Â A single to the third baseman kept Solis at second but gave the Cowgirls two runners on base. Both Solis and Borunda advanced on a wild pitch to put two runners in scoring position. After Monarrez forced a walk
Jamie Weatherbee took one for the team and forced a run home. A deep fly ball to left by Gonzales allowed Borunda to tag from third. The Cowgirls were not done,
Marissa Valencia singled to right to score Monarrez. With 12 outs left in the game the Cowgirls led 7-1.

The Roadrunners did not go quietly in the final game of the series. Lovas doubled to left center for the Roadrunners. Fields singled up the middle. Lovas rounded third and headed home, the Cowgirls' throw was too late as she scored and Fields moved to second. Two batters later Terry doubled to right center to score Fields. Going into the bottom of the sixth the Cowgirls led 7-3.

The Roadrunners would score one more in the top of the seventh to give the Cowgirls the 7-4 win.

The Cowgirls will return to action next weekend in Silver City as they take on the Mustangs of Western New Mexico. Live stats will be available.
