Tough Weekend For Cowgirls In Lakewood

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo.- The Cowgirls wrapped up their last pod of the season with a game against Colorado Christian and Colorado Mesa.
 
Game 1 vs Colorado Christian
The Cowgirls played the host Cougars of Colorado Christian in the first game of the day. The Cougars didn't wait to til the seventh the to lead the Cowgirls in this game as the Cougars beat the Cowgirls 9-1 in five innings.
 
The Cougars were on the board in the bottom of the first. With Perry went deep to give the Cougars the 2-0 lead.
 
The Cowgirls cut the led in the third inning when Marissa Valencia went deep to right field. After thee innings the Cowgirls trailed 2-1.
 
It was the bottom of the fourth that the Cougars strung eights hits together. With runners of first and second Bilante doubled to right and added two RBIs to her total. Romero followed with a single but the Cowgirls' left fielder couldn't come up with the ball and two more runs came into score and made it a 5-1 game. The Cougars would score three more runs to make it 9-1 game. The Cowgirls would have a led off single before three straight outs to end the game.
 
Game 2 vs Colorado Mesa
The Cowgirls played their last game of the weekend against the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa who have won 24 straight ball games. The Cowgirls fell to the Mavericks by a score of 8-0 in seven innings.
 
The Mavericks were consistent at the plate as they scored at least one run in each inning but the first. The Mavericks would score three runs in the seventh to make it a 8-0 led.
 
The Cowgirls will return to action next weekend at Adams St. The first game will start on Saturday at noon. Live stats and video will be provided by Adams St.
