Cowboys split a pair of duals in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO --- The New Mexico Highlands wrestling team split a pair of duals on Friday afternoon, defeating Simpson University 35-9 while falling to host San Francisco State 26-15.
 
NMHU had three wrestlers go 2-0 on the day in Jonathan Trujillo at 149 pounds (up from his usual 141), Julian Sanchez at 285 (winning by a combined score of 12-1) and Luke Allan (including one forfeit).
 
Also picking up wins on the day for the Cowboys was Dom Rivera at 125, Allen Michel at 157, Kenny Yara at 165 and Lance Killgore at 184 (a convincing 14-1 victory in the dual against Simpson).
 
NMHU wraps up its trip in California on Saturday as the Cowboys compete in the California Collegiate Open.
