LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team hosts UC Colorado Springs and Colorado School of Mines this week at Wilson Complex.
THE COWGIRLS COMING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls dropped a pair of road games last week, falling at Black Hills State 83-64 on Friday and to South Dakota Mines 73-35 on Saturday. The Cowgirls got a 25-point performance from
Jordyn Lewis on Friday to go alogn with four rebounds and three steals while
Allyah George had 14 points and five rebounds. On Saturday,
Kish Chandler led the Cowgirls with 12 points while George had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals.
Lewis continues to rank in the RMAC in scoring at 14.1 points per game - good for eighth. She's also tops in the conference in free throw percentage (87.7 percent) and sixth in 3-pointers made per game (2.5). Click on the SEASON STATS link to check out the rest of the Cowgirls' stats.
ABOUT UC COLORADO SPRINGS | SEASON STATS
The Mountain Lions split a pair of games last week on the road, beating Chadron State 66-64 on Friday thanks to outscoring the Eagles 21-13 in the fourth quarter and getting 15 points (all on 3-pointers) from Chelsea Pearson. In UCCS' 60-56 loss to MSU Denver on Saturday, the opposite happened as the Mountain Lions were outscored 20-10 in the fourth quarter to fall by four points with Pearson and Anna Davern leading the Mountain Lions with 11 points apiece.
On the season, UCCS has used a balanced scoring attack as no player is averaging more than 7.5 points on the season (Abby Feickert leads the team at 7.5 points pe game) with 10 players averaging 4.6 to 7.5 points per contest.
ABOUT COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES | SEASON STATS
The Orediggers dropped both games on the road last week, fallign at MSU Denver 67-58 on Friday with Anna Kollmorgen leading the way with 16 points before losing to Chadron State 76-73 on Saturday after being outscored 45-34 in the second half (Kollmorgen and Courtney Stanton led the team with 19 points apiece).
Colorado School of Mines hits the boards hard as they are first in rebounds per game (42.2) and rebounding margin (+7.6) in the RMAC - including second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (13.9).
Denali Pinto leads the Orediggers and is 10th in the RMAC in scoring at 13.4 points per game Nicole Archambeau (10.5), Kollmorgen (10.1) and Raven Herrera (10.1) are also averaging double figures in scoring.
