LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands women's basketball team hosts first-place Colorado Mesa 5 p.m. Friday and Western State 5 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.

THE COWGIRLS COMING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls fell on the road at Regis (87-38) last Friday and at Colorado Christian (71-55) on Saturday to fall to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in RMAC play. In the loss to CCU, NMHU was tied with the Cougars at 32 with less than two minutes left in the second quarter before CCU went on a 21-2 run to pull away.

Jordyn Lewis continues to lead the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game - which is sixth in the RMAC. She's also first in the RMAC in free throw percentage (88.0) and fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.6). Allyah George is averaging 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while Brianna Stewart is at 7.6 points per game and DeAvion Allen is at 7.2 points per contest to go along wtih team bests in rebounds (6.6), assists (1.9) and steals (1.8).

ABOUT COLORADO MESA | SEASON STATS
The Mavs - who sit just one spot outside the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll - enter Friday's contest with the Cowgirls riding a nine-game winning streak, including a 7-0 start to RMAC play. CMU is coming off a thrashing of No. 19 Black Hills State at home on Saturday, beating the Yellow Jackets 72-48 at home. The Mavs also defeated South Dakota Mines last weekend 56-42 as eight of their 10 wins - including their last three - have been by double figures.

The Mavs are No. 1 in the conference points allowed per game (50.9) and scoring margin (+14.5) and No. 2 in field goal defense (34.5 percent). 

Five-foot-7 senior Jaylyn Duran leads the team and RMAC as well as being eighth in the nation in scoring at 23.8 points per game - including hitting the 30-point mark in three of her last four games. She had 31 points thanks to going 9-for-13 from 3-point range in the Mavs' win over Black Hills State on Saturday. She leads the nation in 3-pointers per game at 4.3. Fellow 5-foot-7 guard Sydni Brandon has filled up the box score this season, averaging 4.5 points while leading the team at 7.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game. 

ABOUT WESTERN STATE | SEASON STATS
The Mountaineers have won five of their last six contests heading into the weekend (they play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday) with the only loss coming at No. 19 Black Hills State 59-48 last Friday before bouncing back with a 60-49 win at home against South Dakota Mines on Saturday.

Western State is second in the RMAC in points allowed per game at 53.4 while scoring 61.3 per contest. The Mountaineers are tops in the conference in field goal percentage defense (33.1 percent) and is second in 3-point percentage defense (28.8). Western State is also third in the conference in steals (10.2).

Samantha Coleman leads the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game, 3-pointers made (21) and 3-point percentage (50.0) along with averaging 3.2 rebounds per contest. Katie Dalton is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game while also averaging 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per contest.
