Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team dropped both contests at the St. Mary's College Classic on Friday. The Cowgirls fell to Eastern New Mexico 8-0 in their season opener before falling to Texas A&M – Commerce 27-3.

In the opener, NMHU trailed ENMU 2-0 after three innings before giving up two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to force the eight-run rule.
Haley Rodriguez went 2-for-2 for the Cowgirls while
Victoria Reyes was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.
Desiree Bogarin picked up the loss, going three innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits with one strikeout.

In the second game, NMHU trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the second before TAMC scored 16 runs in the bottom of the second.

Olivia Muniz and
Victoria Mata each drove in a run for the Cowgirls while
Belinda Gonzalez got the loss for NMHU, going an inning and giving up nine runs on six hits with four walks and a strikeout.

The Cowgirls continue play at the St. Mary's College Classic on Saturday as they take on Tarleton State and Texas A&M – Kingsville.
