LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team will honor its five seniors while chasing a postseason spot as the Cowgirls host Adams State on Sunday and Monday.
The Cowgirls sit just a game out of the No. 8 and final spot for the RMAC Tournament as Black Hills State sits there at 7-14 in RMAC play - although there are two teams between the Cowgirls in CSU-Pueblo (8-18) and Fort Lewis (8-20) along with a team just behind NMHUÂ in the program coming to town this week in the Grizzlies (7-18). Add to it that Black Hills State is just a game behind Regis for the No. 7 spot and there are seven teams within four games of those final two playoff spots.
NMHU is coming off dropping three of four at home last weekend to Fort Lewis - winning the opener 6-0 before falling in the next three games.Â
Brooklynn DeLozier has come on as of late for the Cowgirls, getting a hit seven of the team's last eight games to raise her average more than 100 points to a team-best .357 to go along with a pair of homers, four doubles, four RBI and 14 runs.
Leah Osborn is second on the team in hitting (.347), homers (2) and RBI (12), leads the team in doubles (9) and tied for the team lead in runs (14).
Ashley Forshee leads the team in home runs (5) and RBI (13).
